Business Renewal

ALL LICENSES WILL EXPIRE ON JULY 1 IF THEY ARE NOT RENEWED BEFORE JUNE 30

Renewals are open from April 1 to August 15 each year.

A 3 hour training course must be completed after April 1 before beginning the renewal process.
See our list of training facilities.

To receive a copy of your renewal form, please contact us at 801-297-2600 or [email protected].

We no longer process renewals at the counter.

You may drop off/mail your physical renewal application to:

210 N 1950 W
Salt Lake City, UT 84134
with a check made payable to Utah State Tax Commission.

Renewals will be processed in the order they are received.

If there are persons who require authorization to work in the United States under your license:

Please provide a copy of their current employment authorization document(s) after April 1. Please submit those as soon as possible, as verification can take up to 30 days. If the verification states that an individual is not employment authorized at that time, the license(s) will be immediately suspended until authorization is granted and verified. You may provide your documents by mail, email, or in person. We currently only accept non-expired work authorization cards ("green cards") or l-94s as proof of authorization to work; we apologize for any inconvenience.

If you have changed ownership, name, or location:

Please complete a TC-301 instead of the usual renewal. This will allow us to double check all information on file for your business before we process the renewal.

FAQ: - Options for Salespersons on license:

What are the options for Salespersons on the business license:

  • "Renew" will charge you $31 to renew the salesperson license with your renewal.
  • "No Change" means this salesperson will no longer be working for you after June 30.
  • "Terminate" means the salesperson no longer works for you, effective immediately. If you terminate a salesperson in error, please give us a call at 801-297-2600 so we can reinstate the license.

I just got my license between April and June, do I still have to renew?

Yes, our licenses are valid between July 1 and June 30 of each year and fees are NOT prorated. If you are in operation at any time during the current fiscal year, you will need to renew in order to continue operations into the next fiscal year.

I haven't renewed my business license in over a year, what should I do?

Please submit a TC-301 to our office by mail or email. We will renew the license for either the current or new fiscal year depending on when you will be coming back into business.

What happens if my renewal isn't processed in time?

Unfortunately, you will need to suspend your operations until your renewal is completed. It is important to start your renewals as soon as possible to avoid this circumstance.
