Motor Vehicle Enforcement

The Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division (MVED) of the Utah State Tax Commission licenses and regulates automobile dealerships, salespeople, crushers, transporters, dismantlers and body shops. It investigates motor vehicle fraud and other crimes, such as auto theft, chop shops, odometer fraud and salvage vehicle fraud.

New Registration Fees

As of July 1, 2009, registration fees for passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, motorcycles and trailers are increasing $20.00. Contact the DMV if you have questions about this.

New Office Hours

Extended Hours. Extended Service. As of August 2008, the MVED office has extended their hours of operation from 7:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Thursday, and are closed on Fridays. This is in conjuction with Governor Huntsman's "Working 4 Utah" initiative. Also remember that many of our services are available online.
